Supported reverse lunge

Build single-leg confidence by stepping back into a supported, comfortable range.

Form cues

  • Lightly hold a wall or chair for balance.
  • Step back softly and lower straight down.
  • Press through the full front foot to return.

Common mistakes

  • Taking too narrow a stance.
  • Falling forward onto the front toes.
  • Pushing off the back foot to rush up.

Beginner adjustment

Regression: use a shorter range or practice a split-stance hold. Progression: remove the support or hold light dumbbells at the sides.
