Lesson 02 · Expert

Trap-bar deadlift

Create force from a braced hinge while keeping the load close and the finish calm.

Form cues

  • Brace before breaking the floor.
  • Push through the full foot.
  • Stand tall without leaning back.

Common mistakes

  • Jerking the first rep from the floor.
  • Letting hips rise faster than the chest.
  • Overextending at lockout.

Expert adjustment

Scaling: elevate the handles or use dumbbells from blocks. Progression: add load gradually or use a clean, lower-volume speed set only when every pull is crisp.
